Sprint Planning

During our sprint meeting with the team, we decided that the appropriate length of our first sprint is two weeks. At the moment, the tasks are divided between two teams, the software team and the measurement team. The tasks for the teams are as follow:

1. Measurement team (Panu, Niko, Mikael, Jere):
1. Measuring between two modems:
1. Rx-Tx roundtrip time
2. Transmission delay
3. Link speed

1.  Software team (Jimi, Joni, Janne, Lauri):
1. Creating a device in NS-3 that can send data to multiple other devices

The goal of the sprint is to create a simulation of a basic device in NS-3. From there we can start implementing the data we gathered from the measurements between two radio modems. This brings us a step closer to achieving our ultimate goal.

Pitch event week and reviews

Week 3

It's time for the first blog post of the year, we started the week off with a pitch competition. All the capstone project groups were divided into 3 smaller groups. And two of the best from every group went on to the finals. Our presentation went so well that we were selected for the finals. We didn't win the final, but getting there was a nice achievement.

Our task was to review two pitch presentations that came after us.

The two presentations were made by the groups representing Punnu Games and Stera Industries.

The group representing Punnu Games had a really good pitch with nice graphical slides that helped keep the interest of the listeners really well. The pitch itself was easy to follow and was presented to the audience in a great manner. The presence of the pitcher was great and she was really concentrating on the audience. The idea behind the project for decreasing the carbon footprint of individuals is great. Overall a excellent pitch. Punnu games also ended up winning the whole competition.

The group representing Stera Industries had an easy to follow presentation. The slides had lots of good data and it was easy to see what they are doing and why. The idea behind the project is also good. The pitchers had good voice usage and presence. Overall a good pitch and presentation.

Now that the pitch week is over, it's time to really start concentrating on the project. We have already started doing measurements and diving into the source code of NS-3.
